Qualifications

Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Luton
Type: Permanent, Full–Time (37 hours/week)

We re supporting a well–established engineering and manufacturing business in their search for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team at their Luton headquarters.

The Role:
This is a hands–on design role supporting the full lifecycle of complex engineered products. From concept development and engineering calculations to 3D modelling and production support, you ll play a key part in the delivery of high–integrity mechanical equipment used in demanding industrial applications.
Responsibilities include:
  • Creating detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks
  • Producing bills of materials (BOMs) and working with ERP systems (Epicor)
  • Applying relevant design standards including BS8888, GD&T, and other industry codes
  • Collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
  • Supporting design activities through production and testing phases
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the design process

What We're Looking For:
  • Degree–qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
  • Strong understanding of technical drawing standards and documentation
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel codes such as ASME VIII or PED would be beneficial
  • Proactive approach, with strong attention to detail and communication skills
