Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Type: Permanent | Hybrid – 1–2 days/week in the office, plus 2 days/month on site

Make an Impact Where It Matters

We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing team delivering high-impact water and wastewater projects. If you’ve got at least 2 years of mechanical design experience in the water industry, we’d love to hear from you.

This role is open to engineers at various levels—what matters most is solid water-sector design experience and a proactive approach.

With AMP8 ramping up, the team is doubling in size—so there’s real potential to grow with the business.

About the Role

You’ll focus mainly on outline design with some contract and on-site involvement to keep things varied. Here's how the workload breaks down:

• 20%: Contract/framework support
• 10%: On-site collaboration and problem-solving

You’ll be working closely with other disciplines to shape practical, sustainable engineering solutions that make a real-world difference.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Creating and developing outline mechanical designs for water/wastewater projects
• Collaborating across engineering disciplines to deliver complete solutions
• Reviewing and refining designs to meet quality and industry standards
• Championing digital tools and better ways of working
• Building relationships with supply chain and project stakeholders
• Occasionally heading out on site to help resolve design challenges first-hand
• Mentoring junior team members if you're more experienced

What They’re Looking For

• Minimum 2 years’ mechanical design experience in the water industry
• Solid knowledge of P&IDs and experience with 3D design tools
• A practical, solutions-led approach
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEng/MSc preferred)
• Chartered or Incorporated status (or working toward it)
• Full UK driving licence (for site work)
