Job summary

A leading manufacturer in the aerospace industry is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support their operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing components and tooling, ensuring manufacturing standards, and providing shop-floor support. A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and proficiency in CAD software, particularly Creo, is required. Overview

Our client are a leading manufacturer of precision parts for the aerospace industry. They are looking to add a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer to their team on a permanent basis. This would be a great fit for a meticulous individual who enjoys challenge and variety in their day to day.

Responsibilities of the Position
  • To support the Operations Director to meet overall business objectives.
  • To assist with the identification, development and implementation of process improvements.
  • To ensure that all work meets customer (internal and external) expectations on delivery and quality.
  • To be flexible and adaptable.
Key Area Responsibilities
  • Design forgings to meet customer requirements within company capabilities.
  • Design tool and die requirements to customer requirements.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet agreed standards.
  • Maintain IT record systems within department.
  • Make necessary modifications to meet customer requirements.
  • Produce all necessary drawings and documentation to effectively allow customer components, tools and dies to be manufactured.
  • Recommend and implement system modifications as required.
  • Assemble working manuals/records to allow forging operations to be carried out. This to include Forge Instruction Sheets etc.
  • Responsible for all design work within Lincoln Plant.
  • Responsible for design of new types of tooling to meet complex forging and quality standards.
  • Upgrade and widen scope of computer systems within engineering department.
  • Provide shop–floor support as required.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the management team.
Knowledge and Experience
  • At least 3 years' experience of working within a relevant design role gained in an Engineering environment.
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or Aerospace or Design Engineering.
  • Familiarity with the forging ability of metals and basic metallurgy.
  • Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD Software (preferably Creo) and Forge Simulation.
  • Excellent IT skills to include Mini Tab.
Working Hours
  • Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm
  • Friday – 8am to 3.30pm
