Mechanical Design Engineer

Location:Lichfield
Salary:£37,000 to £41,000 + Pension Contribution
Hours:8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Holidays:25 days + statutory holidays

ATA are working closely with a long-established engineering company, renowned for our innovative solutions and commitment to excellence in the Water Industry. With a history dating back to 1908, they pride themselves on designing, manufacturing, and installing top-quality equipment.

Role Overview:The successful Mechanical Design engineer will be responsible for preparing engineering drawings using SolidWorks 3D solid modelling software, designing and selecting equipment, issuing Bills of Materials for manufacture, and collaborating with the workshop team. Additional duties include developing new product designs, conducting prototype testing, maintaining existing designs, attending site surveys, and participating in internal pre-let meetings. There are also opportunities to engage in project management, contracting, health & safety, and quality management.

Mechanical Design Engineers Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Drawings:Preparation of detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks 3D solid modelling software.
  • Equipment Design:Design and selection of equipment to meet industry standards.
  • Manufacturing Collaboration:Issuance of Bills of Materials and close collaboration with the workshop team.
  • Product Development:Development of new product designs and conducting prototype testing.
  • Design Maintenance:Maintenance and updating of existing designs.
  • Site Surveys:Conducting site surveys to gather essential data for design improvements.
  • Team Meetings:Participation in internal pre-let meetings to align on project goals and strategies.

Qualifications and Experience for the Mechanical Design Engineer Role:

  • Educational Background:Degree in engineering or HNC/HND
  • Industry Experience:Strong engineering background, ideally with experience in the Water Industry, sheet metal, or fabrication
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency in preparing engineering drawings for manufacture.
  • Team Collaboration:Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
