Mechanical Design Engineer
Days - Flexible Start Times
Up to £42,000

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join a market leader in their respective industry. The position will appeal to a strong Mechanical Design Engineer looking for their next challenging role within a secure and stable company, with lots of opportunities for progression in the future.

The successful candidate will combine artistic and engineering skills to develop innovative functional products, being active across Product Design - CAD, Prototyping & Mass production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop your ideas from concept to production
2. Design for efficient manufacturability, aesthetics and functionality
3. Design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA)
4. Process failure mode and effect analysis (PFMEA)
5. Maintain accurate records of all design changes
6. Liaise with customers to identify requirements
7. Write technical reports to summarise findings, at all stages of the design process
8. Construct bills of materials (BOM)
9. Costing of products/designs/projects
10. Ensuring adherence to all customer specifications, company quality requirements, legislation and good engineering best practice
11. Ensure design solutions are user and environmentally friendly
12. Coordinate product testing in accordance with relevant standards and protocols
13. Stay up to date with advancements in materials and processes

Key Skills:

1. Ideally you will have a HNC or equivalent degree within Mechanical Engineering
2. Proficiency with CAD software (Autodesk Inventor)
3. Product Design or Industrial Design experience gained within industry
4. Practical, with the ability to create models and prototypes
5. Be organised, self-motivated, pro-active and the ability to multi-task
6. An effective team worker
