Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer

Responsibilities include:

1. Create and implement temporary Mechanical building services design solutions for the Hinkley ‘C’ Common Building Services.
2. Ensure integration, technical assurance, compliance, health, safety, and sustainability of design and engineering for defect-free handover, delivered on time and within budget.
3. Coordinate with the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor to ensure regular information flow and compliance with CDM requirements.
4. Provide design solutions related to Ventilation, LTHW, CHW & CWS piped services, wastewater drainage within the CBS mechanical design team.
5. Share relevant information between design services to ensure complete integration in final designs.
6. Prepare documentation including Specifications, Datasheets, Calculations, Schedules, Drawings.
7. Review vendor documents for electrical compliance with project specifications.
8. Support the Design Manager in design and construction reviews and sign-offs.
9. Identify and communicate design risks; prepare risk assessments.
10. Provide technical support and develop innovative, robust solutions.
11. Maintain relationships with technical consultants and suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

1. Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with project teams.
2. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Promotion of innovation and continuous improvement in design.
4. Proficiency in IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
5. Knowledge of AutoCAD Duct and Pipe systems; familiarity with AutoCAD 2020 (desirable).
6. Knowledge of codes of practice, especially under CDM and other regulations.
7. Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical Installation Services.

Working Pattern and Location

• Location: Hinkley Point C Construction Site, Wick Moore Drove, Nr Bridgwater, Somerset, TA5 1UD.
• Schedule: 9-day fortnight.
