Base pay range

My client is a Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Consultancy with over 80 years of experience. They have completed numerous residential projects, including high-specification residences and refurbishments within listed buildings. The firm is ISOQAR accredited and uses modern design tools such as Revit MEP, IES, Hevacomp, Dialux, and AutoCAD. This full-time Mechanical Design Engineer role is based in Surrey. The successful candidate will be involved in designing, specifying, and coordinating mechanical systems for diverse projects including commercial, residential, healthcare, and institutional developments, from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems in line with building codes, sustainability standards, and client requirements.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and schedules using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
• Perform heat load, cooling load, and ventilation calculations using industry-standard tools.
• Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, and other engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor construction to ensure compliance with design and quality standards.
• Assist in project management tasks such as cost estimation, tender documentation, and progress reports.
• Stay updated on new technologies, regulations, and sustainability practices relevant to building services engineering.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress towards chartered status is advantageous.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in building services design and engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, IES, or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
