Job description

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client’s team in Dunfermline. They are known for delivering high-quality, reliable products across various industries.

The Role

  1. Design and develop mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  2. Support engineering activities, including requirements analysis, sales support, specification and design, manufacturing support, testing, and ongoing technical support.
  3. Contribute to new product development and improvements to existing systems.
  4. Perform calculations to support design and manufacturing requirements.
  5. Create and review CAD models and drawings (PTC Creo 8 and AutoCAD).
  6. Analyse customer requirements and provide technical input for sales and estimating.
  7. Write technical procedures and product manuals.
  8. Support prototype development and testing.
  9. Occasional travel for on-site support and troubleshooting.

The Candidate

  1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  2. Experience in mechanical component design, particularly for steel fabrication and assembly.
  3. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as welding, machining, casting, and forging.
  4. Experience with manufacturing drawings in a production environment.
  5. Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
  6. Skills in 3D modelling, 2D drafting, and FEA (ANSYS Workbench).
  7. Working knowledge of Mathcad Prime 8.
  8. Strong computer skills (MS Office and relevant applications).
  9. Valid EU passport or UK work authorisation.
