What you'll be doing

This role is crucial in achieving Cygnus’s global objectives by providing engineering support and product development. The Mechanical Design Engineer will serve as a key link between production and engineering, supporting existing products and influencing new product development and improvements.

Key responsibilities include:
Product Development & Improvement Support
  • Provide engineering support for the design and development of ultrasonic measuring instruments.
  • Evaluate designs through physical and environmental testing.
  • Assess development and product concepts using DFMEA/FMEA.
  • Collaborate with design subcontractors (CEM, Mechanical Design).
  • Conduct ISIR/FAIR on new parts (design department).
  • Coordinate testing and qualification of new products.
  • Create 3D models and 2D CAD drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Assist in the qualification of new designs.
  • Carry out prototyping for new product development.
Production Support
  • Provide engineering support to production and operations teams.
  • Maintain existing products by updating drawings, resolving issues, and replacing obsolete parts.
  • Support QA activities on existing and new products.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Update ERP system by creating parts.
  • Create and maintain work instructions for production.
What experience you'll need
  • Relevant Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD Design, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, and servicing teams.
  • Materials knowledge.
  • Understanding of IQC & OQC processes.
  • Experience with Engineering Verification Testing (EVT).
  • Experience with injection moulding and pressure-rated enclosures is advantageous.
  • Hands-on attitude.
