Job summary

ATA Recruitment Ltd is working with an established engineering business in Derby to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer who will develop innovative mechanical solutions and designs. You will produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and documentation, collaborating across design, manufacturing and project engineering, and supporting projects from concept through to installation.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mechanical design engineering role, preferably within machinery, automation, or materials handling.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and the production of detailed engineering drawings.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and develop effective design solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Design bespoke mechanical equipment and product handling systems.
• Develop concepts and turning customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Support projects from initial design through to manufacture, assembly and installation.
• Work closely with production and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient and cost-effective.
• Review and improve existing designs, components and engineering processes.
• Ensure designs meet relevant engineering standards, safety requirements and project specifications.
• Liaise with internal teams and, where required, customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues.

The Company

We are working with an established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke product handling and material handling solutions. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.

The Role

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical solutions to meet customer requirements, working closely with colleagues across design, manufacturing and project engineering:

• Producing detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Designing bespoke mechanical equipment and product handling systems.
• Developing concepts and turning customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Supporting projects from initial design through to manufacture, assembly and installation.
