Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer

Are you a skilled CAD Designer looking to take ownership of bespoke, high-end architectural design projects across London landmarks?

We're working with a long-established specialist fabrication business, renowned for delivering premium lift interiors and architectural metalwork solutions to major contractors and developers. With a growing product portfolio including innovative lighting systems, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of something both creative and technically rewarding.

This role offers a blend of design and project coordination, giving you the chance to see your work realised in some of the UK’s most prestigious buildings. With no ceiling on progression, it’s the ideal move for someone ambitious and keen to carve out their own path.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer:

Design (60%)

  • Creating detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Fusion 360

  • Designing bespoke lift interiors, architectural finishes, and metalwork features

  • Producing flat patterns, DXF files, and fabrication-ready documentation

  • Collaborating with the fabrication team to resolve technical challenges

Project Engineering (40%)

  • Attending site surveys and meetings across London

  • Liaising with architects, contractors, and internal teams

  • Supporting project planning, labour coordination, and installation

  • Managing your own design and delivery schedule

  • Reporting directly to the Design Manager and Director

What We’re Looking For:

  • 1–3 years’ experience in architectural metalwork, sheet metal, or joinery design

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes and a great eye for detail

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Fusion 360

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the business on-site

  • Prior experience in the lift/escalator sector is a bonus – but not essential

  • Self-motivated, organised, and keen to take initiative

Why Apply?

  • Work on high-profile London projects

  • Regular travel (not desk-bound)

  • Career growth opportunities with no cap on progression

  • Immediate start available for the right candidate
