Job summary

James Adams is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop aerospace products from concept through production, within a regulated environment. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, customers and suppliers to deliver robust, high-performing and manufacturable solutions.

The role requires 3–5 years of aerospace or regulated-industry experience, a Mechanical Engineering degree, and strong 3D CAD skills to translate requirements into reliable designs.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in aerospace or regulated industries.
• Proficient with commercial 3D CAD software.
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Knowledge of GD&T for design.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes: forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet-metal forming.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Clear communicator with ability to work with internal teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of aerospace products throughout the full product lifecycle.
• Translate customer specifications and airworthiness requirements into robust design solutions.
• Develop detailed product specifications, considering performance, materials, cost, manufacturability and operational efficiency.
• Produce and maintain engineering drawings, 3D CAD models and bills of materials.
• Validate designs through engineering analysis, testing and interpretation of results.
• Ensure products meet performance, safety, reliability and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate non-conforming products and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers and external suppliers.

We are excited to be working with an established engineering organisation that is going through a significant period of growth and looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its expanding team. What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience using commercial 3D CAD software.

• An understanding of manufacturing processes such as forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet-metal forming.
