Mechanical Design Engineer – Defence Industry

Location: Colchester
Salary: Up to 40,000 per annum

Prime Appointments is working with a global manufacturer in the defence industry, seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team in Colchester. This well–established company specialises in the design, testing, certification, and manufacturing of high–quality products for defence applications.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving engineering excellence, ensuring product quality, and contributing to business growth through innovative design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products while ensuring compliance with technical specifications

• Create accurate 3D CAD models and manufacturing–ready designs

• Prepare and present project progress reports during monthly engineering reviews

• Develop technical documentation, including Design FMEA, Product Risk Analysis, and Technical Specifications

• Ensure all designs and processes comply with quality standards and industry regulations

Requirements

• Minimum four years of experience in an HVAC or mechanical engineering environment

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software

• Experience in product development and delivery projects

• Knowledge of software and programming (advantageous but not essential)

• HNC/Degree in Engineering or equivalent
