Job summary

Skilled Careers client is seeking a Mechanical Intermediate in London to develop building-services designs from concept through detailed design. You will perform heating, cooling, ventilation and domestic water calculations while sizing plant and ductwork.

You will coordinate with electrical, architectural and structural teams, attend design meetings and review contractor submissions. AutoCAD and Revit experience is preferred, with progression toward professional status encouraged.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in mechanical building-services design.
• Experience with MEP consultancy or similar design organisation.
• Knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water systems.
• Ability to perform calculations and develop coordinated design solutions.
• Experience producing specifications, schedules, technical reports and design information.
• Familiarity with software such as IES, Hevacomp, H2X or equivalent would be beneficial.
• Experience working with AutoCAD and Revit would be advantageous.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to manage allocated tasks and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Relevant mechanical or building-services qualification.
• Progress toward CEng or IEng status would be supported but is not essential

• Support senior engineers while taking responsibility for allocated areas and smaller projects.
• Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and relevant British Standards.
