Job Description

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in Edinburgh.

You will join an experienced team in a predominantly office-based role, responsible for developing and delivering mechanical designs that ensure safe and compliant installations on site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations & planning authority requirements.
• Attending design team meetings.
• Conducting site surveys of existing installations where applicable.
• Producing heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software.
• Sizing and selecting AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers, etc.
• Producing above ground drainage calculations and sizing drainage systems.
• Sizing and selecting domestic hot and cold-water equipment (heaters, storage tanks, etc.).
• Performing pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or spreadsheets.
• Sizing and selecting firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems (preferred but not essential).
• Preparing stage reports & presentations.
• Developing Designers Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports.
• Detailing mechanical layouts & schematics for construction.
• Meeting project delivery deadlines.
• Producing detailed design and survey reports.

Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in Mechanical Building Services Engineering for construction.
• Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS & EN Irish, UK standards, or ASHRAE.
• Proficiency with design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS.
• Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
• Strong communication skills.
