Job summary

Cubiq Recruitment is seeking a Lead Mechanical Designer for ultra-high energy battery packs, on-site in Cambridge, reporting to the Head of Pack Development. You will own the mechanical side of the pack from prototype through to volume production.

You will design battery pack enclosures and internal structures, run structural, thermal and multiphysics analysis (FEA, COMSOL) and validate it through testing, build and iterate prototypes hands-on in the lab, and work with suppliers to take designs

Qualifications

• Previous battery pack or battery module mechanical design experience
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• FEA or multiphysics modelling experience
• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or Fusion 360)

The company

A University of Cambridge spin-out developing ultra-high energy batteries, built on more than 15 years of materials research.

The role

You’ll own the mechanical side of the pack, reporting to the Head of Pack Development.

• Design battery pack enclosures and internal structures
• Run structural, thermal and multiphysics analysis (FEA, COMSOL) and validate it through testing
• Build and iterate prototypes hands-on in the lab
• Work with suppliers to take designs into production

You’ll need

• Previous battery pack or battery module mechanical design experience

Thermal management, thermal runaway mitigation and DfM experience are all useful.
