Job summary

Coates Recruitment has partnered with a global engineering business to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer for bespoke automated systems. The role offers exposure to full project life cycles from concept to installation and real-world operation.

The successful candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree and 1–3 years' industry experience, with SolidWorks experience and a drive to progress and assume responsibility in a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of mechanical design experience in industry.
• Experience with SolidWorks preferred.
• Strong understanding of electromechanical machinery.
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to take on responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for bespoke automated machinery.
• Produce 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD.
• Contribute across full projects from concept to manufacture and installation.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls and manufacturing engineers.
• Interact with customers during projects.
• Travel internationally when required to visit sites.
• Observe machinery in production environments.

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: GBP32,000 GBP38,000 DOE

Coates Recruitment is delighted to be working with a global specialist engineering business that designs and manufactures fully bespoke, first–class automated systems and machinery for customers across the UK and internationally!

We re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their close–knit engineering team. This would be a great next step for a Mechanical Engineering graduate with around 1 3 years industry experience who is ready to build on their first role and take more ownership of real engineering projects.

The Role

This is much more than sitting behind a CAD screen. You ll get involved across complete engineering projects, working alongside experienced engineers and seeing your designs progress from initial concept through to manufacture, installation and real–world operation.

You ll:

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for bespoke automated machinery
• Produce 3D models, detailed drawings and designs using CAD
• Get involved across full projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation
• Work closely with electrical, controls and manufacturing engineers
• Have the opportunity to interact directly with customers throughout projects
• Travel internationally when required, visiting customer sites and production facilities
• See the machinery you ve designed built, installed and operating in real–world production environments

The Person

We re looking for someone with:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• We feel this would suit someone with 1 to 3 years mechanical design experience within industry
• Ideally experience using SolidWorks
• A strong understanding of electromechanical machinery, equipment or automated systems
• Good mechanical engineering fundamentals and problem–solving skills
• The ambition to develop, take on more responsibility and progress as a Design Engineer

Experience within automation, special–purpose machinery, manufacturing equipment or electromechanical systems would be particularly attractive.
