Mechanical Design Engineer

Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: GBP 35,000 - GBP 50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Type: Permanent

Location: Bournemouth

My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Bournemouth on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

1. 2 years or more of experience in a similar Design / Mechanical Engineering position
2. Excellent proficiency with CAD software - ideally SolidWorks
3. Experience in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, fluid handling, hydraulics, piping, instrumentation, structural steel or similar industries would be beneficial
4. Knowledge of sheet metal, injection moulded plastics, welding, fabrication, castings, etc.
5. Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
6. Proven ability to drive Engineering development
7. Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
8. The ability to understand system requirements
9. Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
10. Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written

The Mechanical Design Engineer Role Will Involve:

1. Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
2. Working on full lifecycle design projects
3. Designing and developing new products
4. Liaising with manufacturing providers
5. Being involved in the final assembly of products
6. Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports/plans
7. Updating 3D models and drawings
8. Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
9. Checking drawings for sign off
10. Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
