Job description

Job Description

Whether you are seeking out a fresh challenge or the chance to diversify your portfolio, this opportunity for Mechanical Design Engineer provides a truly unique chance to contribute to the development of high-performance machinery within one of the world's most recognised and acclaimed manufacturers.

You will be directly involved in moulding the next of compact equipment through fluid line integration and innovative mechanical systems. You will be engaging with elegant design platforms to optimise and create hydraulic and thermal routing systems, and ensuring all is fully compliant with the UK and EU regulations and compliance.

Role Responsibilities:

  • The design and development of fluid lines installations for hydraulic oil, engine coolant, and air conditioning refrigerant, which are validated to meet functional and technical requirements. This will include the routing of hose and tube assemblies, selection of adapters, and definition of mounting arrangements.
  • Working across multiple projects and collaborating with global teams and suppliers to deliver new designs into series production, which meet quality, velocity, and cost targets.
  • Coordinating with sales and marketing, product development groups, supply chain, and manufacturing to manage design changes through the engineering life cycle.
  • Communicating design status to stakeholders and participating functional areas through presentations and detailed reports.

What you need:

  • A demonstrable understanding of Highway machinery product development systems and processes.
  • Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Extensive knowledge and ability to create 3D CAD geometry using fluid lines modelling techniques (ideally CREO), apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to recognised standards, and complete changes using engineering data management systems (ideally Teamcenter).
  • Analytical Thinking: Effective utilisation of techniques and tools to analyse problems, determine root cause, and develop creative solutions.
  • Product Design and Manufacture: An ability to convert customer needs into requirements and specifications that drive the development of concepts through to production designs.
  • Compact Wheel Loader experience
  • Prior engineering experience in a mobile construction equipment manufacturing environment.
