Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

Company InformationJoin a leading M&E contractor who specialise in the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems across a variety of sectors, including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, and industrial.

Position OverviewSeeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of HVAC systems and plumbing, through to construction for a variety of exciting and challenging projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and specification of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, domestic water, drainage, and specialist systems
  • Produce detailed calculations using industry software such as Hevacomp, Revit MEP, and AutoCAD
  • Prepare design drawings, technical specifications, and tender documentation
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and external consultants to ensure seamless integration of building services
  • Attend design team meetings, site visits, and inspections as required
  • Ensure designs comply with current legislation, standards, and best practice (e.g., CIBSE, Building Regulations, BREEAM)


Key Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical building services design
  • Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Hevacomp, or similar
  • Sound knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice (CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS EN)
  • Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE) desirable
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
