Proactive currently has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work for a leading manufacturer based in Milton Keynes.
Due to rapid company expansion and an increasing order book, our client aims to recruit at least one additional Mechanical Design Engineer to maintain quality and accuracy in factory operations during this growth. The client welcomes applicants of all experience levels, from recent graduates to seasoned engineers.
Overview:
- Design and develop mechanical aspects of enclosures, cabinets, and consoles, focusing on ruggedisation for harsh environments throughout the product lifecycle (requirements, development, drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports).
- Take ownership of mechanical project aspects.
- Provide technical support to project managers and customers.
- Develop and maintain mechanical drawings, parts lists, and manufacturing data.
- Follow design control procedures within the company's BMS.
- Assist with producing ILS documentation, including manuals, maintenance procedures, spares provisioning, and training materials.
- Review legacy equipment for compliance with current standards, obsolescence, and redesign opportunities.
- Manage your time effectively, logging hours against tasks accurately.
Experience:
- Broadly experienced mechanical engineer with a background in designing and developing enclosures and cabinets is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to develop solutions from customer requirements, applying relevant standards, regulations, materials, manufacturing techniques, and components.
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D.
- Experience with analysis tools such as NASTRAN, FEA, CFD, etc.
- Competent in designing to critical standards.
- Qualified by experience, degree, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to produce high-quality technical documents and reports, sometimes for tender submissions.
