Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Blackburn
Salary: 45,000 – 55,000 (DOE)

A leading global engineering company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in precision engineering and complex machinery design. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative and growing team, delivering end–to–end mechanical solutions for high–value engineering projects.



What you'll be doing:

    • Lead mechanical design from concept to completion, ensuring Machinery Directive compliance.
    • Create detailed specifications, project plans, and risk assessments including FMEA.
    • Deliver designs using 3D CAD (Inventor, Solidworks or similar) and manage documentation, budgets, and timelines.
    • Conduct engineering calculations and design reviews.
    • Liaise cross–functionally with production, sales, and suppliers.
    • Provide ongoing support during commissioning and offer customer technical assistance.
    • Mentor and manage junior engineers.


What you'll need to succeed:

    • HNC/D or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Proficiency in 3D CAD (Inventor or similar).
    • Proven experience with special purpose machinery or industrial equipment.
    • Strong grasp of hydraulics/pneumatics, and mechanical engineering calculations.
    • Strong project management and cross–functional communication skills
