Job description

Teamjobs is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our exclusive client in Yeovil.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated engineer with experience in the aerospace industry. You will be required to design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. You should have knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines, including familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. The role involves working under supervision to perform job functions.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility to work over four days.

The pay rate is £35.00-£45.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Addressing REACH obsolescence within the current product range, identifying obsolescence issues, and investigating suitable alternatives based on product specifications.
  • Supporting concept development and design, including analysis, with an awareness of manufacturing methodologies and cost considerations.
  • Performing detailed design work and processing engineering changes.
  • Managing all drawings and associated project documentation.
  • Working on complex aerospace engineering projects across various remits.

Necessary skills include:

  • Attention to detail when reviewing existing drawings for REACH obsolescence and creating investigation reports.
  • Producing detailed designs and layouts to meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Completing and checking drawing packs and supporting documentation.
  • Delivering on project schedules and milestones within a team environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work beyond your usual zone.
  • Experience in small component design, design for manufacturing principles, and fine tolerance components is desirable.
