Job summary

Automated Industrial Robotics Inc (AIR) is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to translate concepts into production-ready drawings and ensure designs meet customer needs and business objectives. The role involves applying mechanical engineering principles, delivering robust solutions, and adhering to company standards.

You will work across functions, perform calculations, and use AutoCAD for both 2D and 3D design.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC in mechanical discipline or equivalent significant experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience delivering technical solutions within project lifecycles.
• 2D CAD (AutoCAD) desirable; 3D CAD (AutoCAD) essential.
• Ability to interpret numerical data and communicate clearly.

• Carry out mechanical design to meet customer and production requirements.

Effectively communicate project status to the Technical Director/Head of Mechanical Engineering/Section lead Produce Mechanical design from concept to issuing drawings to production in line with customer needs and business objectives, utilise barcode scanning system Support specific projects ensuring timescales and budget requirements are achieved Utilise third party/supplier software to calculate specific requirements Works to the company's technical standards and of external standards Ensure data is inputted into the company's database Understanding of BS/ISO application Detail checking work of others Conduct risk assessment on Machinery Provide expert input to ensure that the most economical / advantageous design strategy is adopted through collaboration Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required Ensure innovative processes are implemented Qualifications: , Minimum HNC qualified
in relevant mechanical discipline, or demonstrate through significant experience Key Skills & Abilities: Possess a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles Competent (and confident) in all technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special purpose machinery (ideally gained within a similar environment) Experience in delivering solutions to technical problems Experience of undertaking technical calculations Experience of working within a multi -skilled environment (i.e. knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic and electrical components) Experience of technical projects including working to tight timescales throughout the project life cycle 2D CAD design experience (AutoCAD) desirable 3D CAD design experience (AutoCAD) essential Ability to provide quality information within deadlines Empathy with other functions and projects Proactive interaction with other functions Team-player and ability to work

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide effective and innovative product design solutions to the business to ensure that AIR remains a market leader in providing automated solutions to our new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out mechanical design to meet business and customers' specified requirements
• Provide a high level of commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are delivered in a cost-effective manner & scope changes are managed in accordance with standard operation procedures
• Ensure schedules are
