Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer

NW Total Engineered Solutions are currently seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join their team as a Mechanical Design Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the engineering team working on a variety of design projects including packaged systems, pipework, structural steelwork and associated equipment. Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and to meet our customers and regulatory requirements.

The Company

NW Total Engineered Solutions Ltd. is a specialist manufacturing and engineering company focused on delivering high–quality process equipment packages. Their facility is equipped with a broad range of core capabilities, enabling them to manufacture and rigorously test a diverse array of equipment.

They have particular expertise in pipe welding and mechanical fitting, which are central to the projects they undertake. Additionally, they offer in–house Level 2 weld inspection and non–destructive testing (NDT) services, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability across all our work.

Hours of Work

  • 37.5 hours, Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm Mon–Thurs and 8am–12:30pm Fri with flexibility within core hours

Salary

  • GBP38,000 – GBP45,000 per annum

Key responsibilities

  • To produce robust and compliant design solutions from clients or project specifications and national standards.
  • Be proficient in creating 3D CAD Models (inventor or Solidworks) and 2D manufacturing drawings (AutoCAD).
  • To produce and verify design calculations.
  • To work with the Lead Engineers to check and approve designs to ensure the most appropriate and cost–effective solutions are selected to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist and being responsible to meet the project requirements and deadlines in line with the budget and quality targets.
  • To check own and other design and technical solutions for completeness and correctness.

What you need for the role.

  • Degree level qualification in Engineering or similar.
  • Proficiency in tools: AutoCAD, Inventor, Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design (experience of pressure systems, packaged systems, pumps, and pipework would be an advantage but not essential).
  • An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Due to occasional site surveys requiring specific security clearances, UK nationality is highly advantageous
