Mechanical Design Engineer

Reporting to Engineering Manager

Working relationships: Project Engineers, Quality, Production, Customers and Suppliers

The Job

To support the engineering team working on a variety of design projects including nuclear plant and associated equipment. Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and to meet our customers and regulatory requirements.

Essential
Key Responsibilities
  • To produce robust and compliant design solutions from clients or project specifications and national standards.
  • Be proficient in creating 3D CAD Models (Inventor or SolidWorks) and 2D manufacturing drawings (AutoCAD).
  • To continuously search for, and capture knowledge relating to design activity and apply LFE to new designs.
  • To work with other departments such as projects, production, manufacturing, and the supply chain.
  • To produce and verify design calculations.
  • To work with the Lead Engineers to check and approve designs to ensure the most appropriate and cost–effective solutions are selected to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist and being responsible to meet the project requirements and deadlines in line with the budget and quality targets.
  • To check own and other design and technical solutions for completeness and correctness.
  • To carry out any other relevant task as requested.
Scope
  • Occasional travel to other company locations and customer site locations within the UK may be required.
  • Participate in meetings and influence decisions where appropriate.
  • To build knowledge and experience of products across the product life cycle.
