Orion Electrotech Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Design Office. You will work on diverse process and industrial projects from concept to installed plant, contributing to layout, calculations, and fabrication support.

Ideal candidates will hold a BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering with experience in AutoCAD/AutoPlant and knowledge of Plant 3D, Nastran, and Navisworks. Competitive salary and benefits are offered in the UK market.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or close-related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical & piping design, plant layout and related calculations.
• Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs and technical specs.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3 or EN 13480 desirable.

Responsabilités

• Contribute from concept through to detailed design, calculations, fabrication and installation.
• Work across process and industrial projects including pharmaceuticals, chemicals and metals.
• Interpret drawings and P&IDs to apply engineering principles to practical design problems.

My client was founded in 1969 and provides professional engineering consultancy, design, project, and construction management services across a wide range of sectors, from Pharmaceuticals to Heavy Engineering – applying vision, purpose, and cutting-edge expertise.

As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be joining an expanding Design Office and have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of engineering projects within the process and industrial sectors (pharmaceuticals, chemicals, metals, glass, energy and other process industries). The successful candidate will contribute to projects from initial concept and plant layout through to detailed design, engineering calculations, fabrication and installation.

What we would like from the Mechanical Design Engineer:

• BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• Experienced in using AutoCAD and AutoPlant but open to experience using Plant 3D, Nastran, and Navisworks
• Experience in mechanical design, piping design, plant layout, process plant design, equipment and machinery design, equipment skid design, stress analysis, FEA, mechanical engineering calculations, site surveying, and existing plant modelling
• Able to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications
• Able to apply engineering principles to practical design problems
• Experience with standards such as ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), EN 13480 (Metallic Industrial Piping) would be desirable
