Job description
Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of equipment for oil & gas, subsea, renewables, nuclear and industrial applications.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a skilled design team where you will work on projects from concept through to completion, as well as improving and updating existing products.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new products using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor).
  • Update existing products to improve quality and manufacturability.
  • Produce drawings, calculations, FEA analysis and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with customers on enquiries and represent the company at visits and trade shows.
  • Peer review engineering work to ensure accuracy and compliance with ISO9001.
  • Work closely with CNC machining and production teams to ensure designs are fit for manufacture.
  • Build and test prototypes in-house.
  • Provide technical support to customers and colleagues.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or completed Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • Strong experience in mechanical design and project management.
  • Skilled in 3D CAD modelling and 2D drafting (Inventor/Vault preferred).
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture principles.
  • Able to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Hydraulics and customer-facing experience desirable.
