Job Description:

Equans is a renowned energies & services contractor and a proud member of the Bouygues global industrial group. Our expertise spans the design, construction, and maintenance of buildings and critical infrastructure worldwide.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Craftsperson (Heating & Plumbing) to join our Facilities Management team at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People in Little France, Edinburgh. This is a permanent position working 48 hours per week, on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern starting at 21:00. The role involves participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota and overtime when necessary.

Key activities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair Mechanical systems within a healthcare environment.
  • Possess competency at level 3 in theory and practice or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical discipline, or have achieved an advanced apprenticeship.
  • Provide supervision of Maintenance Assistants or act as a Shift Lead Line Manager overseeing a small team.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance (RPM) tasks using Maximo or similar systems.
  • Sign off on completed work, report issues, and ensure proper closure of tasks in Maximo.
  • Resolve non-routine problems independently, demonstrating initiative and judgment.
  • Suggest improvements and provide solutions for work tasks.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Take ownership of tasks and complete them within deadlines, maintaining high standards.
  • Follow safety protocols, including understanding of RAMS, SLAs, and H&S requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Craftsperson, preferably in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of SHTMs, PPMs, and SLAs related to Mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and organizational skills.
