Job summary

North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Mechanical Craftsman Plumber to fault-find and calibrate on a wide range of engineering plant and water systems within the hospital estates team. The role involves planned maintenance, repairs and capital works to ensure continuous service delivery.

You will work to HTM standards, participate in energy centre checks and respond to high priority emergencies to safeguard patient care and experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in accordance with decontamination CFPP01 (HTM 2010/2030) and HTM04 Water Supplies
• Prepare to work in hazardous areas and follow safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment
• Actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes
• Complete NHS labour control scheme (Planet) documentation in paper and electronic PDA format
• Carry out overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management
• Undertake on-call / shift duties as part of the team to ensure out-of-hours emergencies are attended to
• Carry out maintenance tasks without risk to patients, staff and visitors and deliver tasks to a high standard within budget and time constraints

Responsible for fault finding and calibration on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment (low pressure hot and cold water systems, and associated equipment and natural gas systems.)

Performs work including Plumbing activities, which are complex, and / or non-routine.

Undertaking maintenance repairs, minor improvements and capital work across the Trust as directed by management ensuring compliance with trust safety standards and procedures.

We are looking to recruit a self motivated, I.T. literate craftsperson with excellent Mechanical Plumbing and Engineering knowledge to join the estates team. The post holder will be responsible for fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment. The day to day duties will include planned preventative maintenance, general repairs, Energy Centre checks and responding to high priority emergencies to ensure continuity of service in a vibrant busy hospital. North Tees and Hartlepool Solutions is a wholly owned company, entirely owned by the Trust.

Operational responsibilities

To work in accordance with the requirements of decontamination CFPP01 (HTM 2010/2030), HTM04 Water Supplies

To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.

To actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes.

Actively participate in the operation of the NHS labour control scheme (Planet) by working within the scheme including completion of all required documentation in paper and electronic PDA format

Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management

Undertake on-call / shift duties as part of the team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to.

The most challenging part of the job.

Carry out maintenance tasks without causing risk or inconvenience to patients, staff and visitors. Provide a safe and secure and pleasing environment for patients, staff and visitors in a busy acute hospital. Completing all tasks to an accepted high standard within budgetary and time constraints.
