Job summary

Dornan Engineering Limited is seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to lead the mechanical delivery on a major Healthcare Project in London. You will work closely with the Project Manager to drive programme, quality and safety on site, coordinating subcontractors and site teams to meet stringent requirements.

You should have proven Healthcare project experience, strong technical know-how across HVAC, piping, drainage and life-safety systems, and a track record of delivering in fast-paced

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager on Healthcare projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and public health building services systems (HVAC, chilled water, heating, ventilation, domestic water, drainage, life safety).
• Capable of managing subcontractors, workforce planning and programme delivery in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver mechanical works to the highest standards with the Project Manager.
• Plan and sequence activities, supervise site teams, and ensure works meet schedule and specifications.
• Maintain safety, quality, and compliance on site and support commissioning and handover.
• Manage equipment, materials, and subcontractors, escalating issues affecting productivity or scope.
• Support apprentices and maintain site discipline throughout the project lifecycle.

Mechanical Construction Manager - London - Healthcare Project

At Dornan we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Construction Manager to join a major Healthcare Project in London. This is an opportunity to play a key role on a high-profile site, leading Mechanical delivery and helping drive project excellence from start to completion.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Project Manager to coordinate and deliver mechanical works to the highest standards.
• You’ll help plan and sequence activities, support supervision of site teams, and ensure all works meet programme requirements, technical specifications, and Dornan’s safety standards.
• Your work will span planning, overseeing labour and materials, monitoring progress maintaining quality and compliance, and ensuring safe, efficient site operations.
• You’ll be involved in everything from short-term lookaheads and cost awareness to supporting commissioning, handover, and collaboration with subcontractors, suppliers, and client teams.
• You will also play a key part in maintaining site discipline, supporting apprentices, ensuring equipment and materials are effectively managed, and escalating any issues that impact productivity or scope.

About You

You bring proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager on Healthcare projects. You have strong technical knowledge of mechanical and public health building services systems – including HVAC, chilled water, heating, ventilation, domestic water, drainage, and life safety systems – and the capability to manage subcontractors, workforce planning, and programme delivery in a fast-moving environment. You take ownership, communicate clearly, lead effectively, and are committed to continuous professional development.

Your Qualifications

• A relevant Mechanical trade background or a third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• SMSTS or equivalent safety-management certification.
• Appropriate and current health and safety training (e.g. Safe Pass / CSCS / equivalent).
