Mechanical Construction Manager - £25m M&E Residential Project (SW1)

Location: London SE1

Duration: 18 months (initial project)

Company Turnover: £200m+ p/a

Sector: M&E Contracting / Residential

Salary: £325/375 pd (CIS/Ltd)

About the Company: Our client is a leading M&E contractor with an annual turnover exceeding £200m, delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors. They are now seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to join their project delivery team on a prestigious £25m M&E residential development in SW1, London.

The Role

As the Mechanical Construction Manager, you will oversee the mechanical installation works from pre-construction through to handover, ensuring safety, quality, and programme targets are achieved. You will work closely with the Project Manager, site teams, subcontractors, and the client to deliver a technically excellent and commercially successful project.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day mechanical construction activities on site.
  • Coordinate with mechanical and building services teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Supervise subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring works are completed to specification and on schedule.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety standards and site procedures (SMSTS essential).
  • Review technical drawings and assist in resolving design or coordination issues.
  • Support commissioning and handover activities.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation, progress reports, and quality records.
Requirements
  • SMSTS certification (essential).
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience managing mechanical works on projects £10m+ in value.
  • Strong technical knowledge of residential M&E systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to drive productivity, quality, and safety across all site activities.
