At Cavendish Nuclear, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Construction Engineer - Mechanical at the Hinkley Point C nuclear project in Bridgwater, Somerset.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with the MEH Alliance on the Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance coordinates all main MEH, cabling, and support services, facilitating seamless collaboration among contractors to install cabling and pipework in the power station’s rooms.

The role

As a Construction Engineer - Mechanical, you will lead and motivate your team, implement best practices, support continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with nuclear safety and site license requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks, demonstrating strong HSE leadership, and fostering a compliant HS&E culture throughout the project lifecycle.

• Use the Procon system for construction support and progress reporting.
• Manage Work Authorization and Permit systems in accordance with NNB requirements.
• Coordinate safe access routing for construction activities.
• Conduct topographical and other surveys as needed.
• Prioritize and manage documentation aligned with the project’s level 4 plan, e.g., T-3 months documentation acceptance.
• Ensure documents comply with latest work information and MEH documentation.

This is a full-time role, based in Bridgwater, Somerset, with a 37-hour workweek.

Essential experience

• Experience in major construction projects, particularly in highly regulated sectors, with knowledge of Safe Systems of Work.
• Experience at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, including within Joint Ventures.

Qualifications

• HNC/ONC or equivalent vocational training and experience in installing Mechanical and Piping systems.

The candidate must be able to obtain BPSS security clearance.
