Mechanical CAD Engineer - Job Description

Reacton is a leading global manufacturer of critical fire suppression systems. At the heart of Reacton is a world-class team with a genuine passion to raise the level of safety within the industries we serve to protect people and assets from the effects of fire.

Because of the growth and success in the industry of Fire Suppression, both nationally and internationally, Reacton is looking for a talented Mechanical CAD Engineer to join our technical team.

The successful candidate would be responsible for producing quality designs and illustrations from concept through to product launch, sales and support literature. Excellent time management will be required to manage projects requirements. The role would involve the creation of 3D models, 2D Drawings and illustrations that would be eventually used for internal training, manufacturing, print collateral, customer training and internal working procedures.

Mechanical CAD Engineer - Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain existing database to the higher standard of 3D Models and 2D Drawings
• Generate new from specifications 3D Models and 2D Drawings to be used in manufacturing.
• Modify and revise customer 3D models and create 2D Drawings for supporting the front end of the business with clear and concise specifications.
• Review and analyse specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and propose solutions
• Prepare documentation for design RnD projects to ensure correct manufacturing processes and reducing production waste from RnD to Production.
• Collaborate with CNC Machining to minimise waste and design flaws whereby creating 2D Drawings that meet standards and customer requirements.
• Collaborate and support the Quality and Compliance departments to ensure 3D Models are produced for certification bodies and other stakeholders, like customers or auditors.
• Attend technical meetings to ensure correct implementation of all related projects.
• Meet as set and agreed the Engineering KPI s so the department can hit annual targets.
• Produce, when necessary, stress analysis of components and material behaviour analysis.
• Design and render appropriate images to help promote the products or explain concepts to customers and interested parties
• Ability to organise workload, report outcomes while working with high attention to detail.

Mechanical CAD Engineer - Quality Aspect:

In addition to Key Tasks mentioned above, this will include but not be limited to the following:

• Follow internal procedures and processes with attention to detail to ensure quality compliance for both third party but also local and international legislation.
• Provide evidence as required for internal investigation for quality assurance.
• Work with compliance and quality to prepare 3D Models, 2D Drawings, Images, Illustrations and Documentation as required for tenders, customer support and/or external audits.
• Perform Audits on the system yearly to ensure maintaining reasonable quality to the existing system/database and where possible improve it.
• Maintain systems which promote the provision of our services and products with limited environmental impact.
• Follow and adhere to our recycling and environmental schemes.

Mechanical CAD Engineer - Qualifications & Skills

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 6 years of experience
• Proficient in 3D Modelling Solidworks 2020 or later
• High attention to detail
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standard, would be advantageous
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
• Advanced IT Skills / Knowledge would be a plus
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Being analytical and able to interpret data to produce clear and concise reports
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with the all the business hierarchy
• Can work alone and as part of a team is very important
• A Full UK/EU Driving Licence is required
