At Cavendish Nuclear, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Mechanical CAD Designer at our Warrington or Preston sites and contribute to our mission.

The role

As a Mechanical CAD Designer, you’ll be involved in innovative projects within our Cavendish Nuclear business, supporting nuclear decommissioning, the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, nuclear power plant operations, and more. Our goal is to clean up nuclear legacy and promote nuclear energy for security, energy supply, and net zero commitments.

You will create designs, lead project delivery, and provide solutions to clients. Babcock has a history of helping talent progress.

Key Duties:

1. Create and maintain design documents following ISO standards, meeting time, cost, and quality requirements.
2. Collaborate with design and other teams to achieve project goals.
3. Develop innovative design solutions and address manufacturing/installation issues.
4. Assist senior designers with estimates, quality control, and test procedures.
5. Fulfill Design Lead responsibilities for low-risk projects.
6. Stay updated on best practices, standards, and policies.

This role is full time, permanent, and can be based at Warrington, Bristol, Leicester, Preston, or Newbury with hybrid working options.

Essential experience

• Ownership, high performance, and willingness to challenge the status quo.
• Knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawing practices.
• Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent experience.
