Job summary

Tech-People seeks an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer for a Barton-based contract, starting 09/11/2026 and lasting until 14/02/2027. The role covers maintenance across mechanical, plumbing, heating, and water systems within a commercial building.

Typical duties include performing PPM and reactive tasks, maintaining water systems and equipment, and ensuring compliance with L8 water hygiene. On-site hours are 6:30am–3:30pm, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, ideally within commercial buildings or hospital environments.
• Good knowledge of plumbing, heating, water and mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance.
• Knowledge of L8 water hygiene requirements.
• Relevant mechanical/plumbing qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to mechanical, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning systems.
• Maintain water systems, heating plant and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain evaporative cooling systems and domestic and chlorinated water systems in accordance with L8 requirements.
• Install and maintain water pipework and plumbing fixtures.
• Maintain waste and drainage systems.
• Identify and rectify plant faults and defects promptly.
• Carry out routine inspections and maintenance to ensure all equipment remains safe and operational.
• Assist other engineers and contractors with mechanical installations and maintenance projects.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with site procedures and agreed service standards.
