Job description

We are looking for a Mechanical Building Services Engineer (Intermediate Level) to join our vibrant Building Services Engineering Team. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering multidisciplinary projects and will be responsible for supporting and guiding graduate mechanical engineers and technicians.

Based in our Liverpool office, you will be part of a close-knit team of over 15 engineers and technicians, connected to a wider network of more than 100 professionals across the North West and Yorkshire region. As a Mechanical Services Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise to help shape projects that contribute to a zero-carbon future.

You will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment where the focus is on designing buildings that provide maximum value to clients while minimising environmental impact. Your involvement will span all stages of project development, from initial feasibility through to final completion, across sectors including commercial, residential, education, energy, sport, healthcare, and mixed-use developments.

You will provide consultancy advice and produce design reports, specifications, and drawings, ensuring all outputs are delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, you will contribute to the ongoing digital transformation of our business by exploring automation opportunities and supporting the development of integrated digital design services for our clients.

At Arup, you will be part of an extraordinary collective where individuality is encouraged and valued. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and grow professionally. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning — to Arup, your career, our members, and the communities we serve.

Minimum Requirements
  1. Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or Architectural Engineering.
  2. Actively working towards Chartered Engineer status through a recognised institution such as IMechE or CIBSE.
  3. Experience in mechanical building services design, with a portfolio including various building types and project scales.
  4. Strong understanding of sustainable building design, energy and carbon performance, and familiarity with relevant standards.
  5. Proficiency in BIM workflows, with hands-on experience using Revit for coordinated, data-rich mechanical design.

At Arup, our purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years, guiding us to shape a better world.
