Job summary

CIBSE Journal in Greater London is seeking a Mechanical Intermediate to develop building-services designs from concept through detailed design, and undertake heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water and drainage calculations.

You will size and select mechanical plant, equipment, ductwork and pipework, produce drawings, specifications and schedules, and coordinate with electrical, public health, architectural and structural teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical building-services design and project delivery.
• Knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and domestic water systems.
• Ability to perform calculations and develop practical, coordinated designs.
• Experience producing specifications, schedules and technical reports.
• Familiarity with relevant design software and drawing standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical building–services designs from concept through detailed design.
• Undertake heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water and drainage calculations.
• Size and select mechanical plant, equipment, ductwork and pipework.
• Produce and review mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, public health, architectural and structural designs.
• Attend design–team meetings and site inspections.
• Review contractor submissions and respond to RFIs.
• Assist with surveys of existing buildings and prepare related reports.
• Support senior engineers and manage allocated tasks within a multidisciplinary team.
