Job Description

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves the hands-on mechanical assembly of precision components for complex systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate high attention to detail and a commitment to quality, working in a collaborative environment alongside engineers and operations staff.

This is a technically engaging role, ideal for someone with experience in precision mechanical builds, metrology, and a continuous improvement mindset. The successful technician will be involved in both production and development activities and should feel comfortable interpreting and feeding back on technical documentation.



Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out precision mechanical assembly from engineering drawings and documentation.

  • Conduct quality assurance checks, identifying and reporting defects.

  • Kit parts in preparation for builds, following drawings and specifications.

  • Support the build and improvement of test rigs in collaboration with design engineers, utilising rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing, laser cutting, etc.).

  • Perform inspection and verification of incoming mechanical parts against technical drawings.

  • Document assembly and QA processes clearly and accurately.

  • Contribute to and support a positive, efficient workshop culture.



Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.

  • Proven experience in mechanical assembly to tight tolerances.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality standards.

  • Knowledge of mechanical part inspection techniques and tools.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards, especially in areas of batch control and traceability.

  • A flexible, proactive, and problem-solving approach.

  • Comfortable working in a team and liaising across disciplines.
