Job description

Mechanical Assembly Fitter

Up to 17.00 per hour
Sheffield

Metalis are currently supporting a well-established, family-run engineering business who design, fabricate, and assemble a wide range of custom-built recycling machinery.

Supplying to a broad portfolio of clients, the business has a strong order book and continued investment. They are looking to expand their workshop team with the addition of a Mechanical Assembly Fitter. This is a workshop only role, with no travel or working away.

Role Overview:

This is a hands-on position suited to someone with a strong mechanical background, ideally with experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, or general engineering. You'll be working in a supportive, skilled team assembling bespoke machinery using a range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble components and structures to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments accurately
  • Ensure proper alignment, fit, and finish of all assembled parts
  • Support fabrication and build processes as required
  • Perform quality checks to ensure assemblies meet required standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all health & safety procedures
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Apprentice-trained or experienced in mechanical/fabrication assembly
  • Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Skilled in using hand/power tools and various measuring equipment
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
