About The Role

Job Purpose

You will undertake an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, leading to a nationally recognized qualification. This role involves working hands-on with our engineering team to gain practical experience.

Please note, this job description is not exhaustive and other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  1. Gain operational experience by assisting engineers on projects in our factory.
  2. Support departmental or company objectives as directed by your line manager.
  3. Read and interpret drawings and instructions for assembly or design tasks.
  4. Ensure equipment is set up and used safely, with all safety devices in place.
  5. Follow step-by-step processes for assembling electrical components.
  6. Operate hand tools safely and effectively.
  7. Track and identify parts, ensuring all are accounted for.
  8. Assist with gathering and packing parts for customer sites.
  9. Work as part of a team to identify faults and concerns in project assemblies.
  10. Develop fitting and assembly skills, including marking out and using hand tools.
  11. Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and tidiness in all activities.

Desired and Required Criteria

  • Received a conditional offer from Southwest College
  • Achieved at least 6 GCSEs at grades A*-C, including Mathematics (Grade B preferred) and English or equivalent
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to plan and control workload
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team
