Job Description:

An experienced M&E Delivery Manager with a keen interest in working in Defence. Our client is an experienced contractor/consultancy in the Defence & Nuclear industry and together with their partners, ensure the country is safe. You could be a huge part of the UK's safety with the role of a Fleet Engineering Delivery Manager.

The role in Clyde is on a Naval Base and is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week across 4.5 working days. The Fleet EDM is a Mechanical & Electrical bias Delivery Manager, looking after the Engineering on a day-to-day basis. It's an exciting opportunity to work for a leader in defence specialist engineering. You will develop and guide a direct team of engineering leaders & specialists to achieve a fundamental part of the project and operational maintenance, including areas such as safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

The main engineering areas are Mechanical & Electrical, as well as Combat systems, fabrication, and welding. You will also work closely with Nuclear Engineering, providing a clear connection between the engineering works and the Fleet Engineering Team.

Some of the key areas include:

  1. Management of engineering output to ensure the technical solutions are within the agreed technical scope.
  2. Ensure high H&S standards are prioritized on site and in any planning.
  3. Maintain stakeholder relationships and develop new ones.
  4. Promote cooperation between team members and different sections of the team, as well as with other teams on the project.
  5. Support the development of engineering capabilities and future needs.
  6. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices.
  7. Work in confined spaces and at heights.

Experience required:

  1. Leadership experience such as coaching, monitoring, and managing staff (Essential).
  2. Experience in managing several engineering teams on a large scale and complex projects, ideally in a similar field (Essential).
  3. Knowledge and working experience of safety management within high-risk environments, maintaining the highest standards in previous roles (Essential).
  4. Ability to identify and assess complex engineering packages of work, ensuring preparation, planning, and delivery meet budget and KPIs.
  5. Excellent communication skills with internal teams and the wider business and other organisations.
  6. HR management experience.
