We have an exciting opening to join our Property Team as a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer. The post holder will play a key role in standardising commercial equipment across the county and aligning with the NYC commitment to a net zero strategy.

The role requires staying updated on regulatory and statutory changes and prioritising upskilling or training to minimise operational impact.

The Role:

• Undertake repairs and PPM requirements
• Engage with contractors and specialists
• Create reports on equipment condition and highlight investment needs
• Supervise and train apprentices and other staff such as laborers or handypersons
• Drive a council-issued van, ensuring fuel efficiency, minimal wear and tear, and safe driving practices
• Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring safety checks and proper records

What you will bring:

• Evidence of accredited apprenticeship and relevant retraining (18th edition)
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and ability to read schematics
• Experience in electrical, heat, and mechanical maintenance
• Effective planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills
• Experience conducting site inductions in line with health & safety plans
• Understanding of building regulations
• Project management skills
• Resilience and ability to manage pressure
