A specialist provider for at-risk youth seeks a Mechanic Youth Trainer in Hillington to lead young people in gaining mechanics experience. Rate: £30,109 - £36,898 per month

Contract Type: Permanent

What is the Job Function?

As a Mechanic Youth Trainer, based at Kibble’s Skills Academy in Hillington, you will take the lead in supporting young people to gain experience and knowledge in Mechanics. You will also be responsible for providing full servicing, repairs and valeting for Kibble vehicles as well as external customers.

Main Duties:

  • To carry out services and repairs to MOT standard.
  • Diagnosing problems with vehicles and performing maintenance and repair work.
  • To provide and supervise a valeting service.
  • Assisting with insurance claims and vehicle estimates.
  • Liaising with external customers.
  • To provide instruction in Mechanics.
  • To maintain and promote positive work ethics and standards amongst young people.
  • To safeguard the health and safety of all young people and staff.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

What qualifications and experience are we looking for?

  • Mechanic with minimum SVQ 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or other relevant qualifications.
  • 5 years’ experience required in all aspects of mechanical repair.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge in repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, with some electrical skills.
  • Experience in youth training is desirable.
  • Ability to work to deadlines/time scales.
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety.
  • Ability to engage, motivate and inspire young people.
  • Possess a full driving license and be willing and able to drive Kibble vehicles.

4. The successful candidate will be required to undertake Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. The successful candidate must be able to participate fully in this training and be prepared to put this training into practice. The SCM training will consist of two days theory and two days physical training. The successful candidate must complete this training in full within four weeks of an agreed start date. Should the candidate for any reason fail any aspect of the SCM training (theory, physical or both parts), an additional two weeks will be given to pass.

5. Appointments will be subject to a twelve-month probationary period.
