Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for two Mechanics to join our Fleet Maintenance team on a permanent basis.

Position Details

You must be a fully qualified Mechanic who has completed a recognised apprenticeship to C&G, Scotvec, or an equivalent standard, and hold a current LGC category C driving licence or be willing to obtain this within your first 12 months of employment.

The Mechanic role involves servicing, maintaining, and repairing the Glasgow City Council fleet of vehicles to DVSA and Health and Safety standards, and completing all relevant paperwork. Attendance at breakdowns may be required.

A current knowledge of vehicle systems, including electric vehicles, and understanding of legal requirements related to vehicle condition for MOT standards are essential. Good communication, organisational, diagnostic/report writing skills, the ability to work under tight schedules, work independently, and as part of a team are also required.

Contract Details

Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week

Work Pattern: Rotational 2-shift system including Day shifts (8am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 8am - 1:30pm Friday) and Backshifts (1pm - 9:30pm Monday to Thursday, 12noon - 5:30pm Friday). Operational hours are subject to review and may change.

Annual Salary: £29,751.95 - £33,585.88 on an incremental scale

Additional Payments: A WCD payment of £892 per annum and an NSWPH payment of £2,091 per annum are included in addition to the salary.
