Job summary

Qualifications:

MECHANIC IN TRAINING - WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY

High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and three (3) months of experience in lift station operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must obtain Wastewater Class C Collection Technician Certification within two (2) years of employment and be promoted to full operator level; a one-time extension of six (6) months may be granted based on performance and approval by Management and Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

Performs maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection systems. Operates heavy equipment including a backhoe, front loader, and Vac Con truck to perform various maintenance tasks. Checks lift stations and related equipment. Completes repairs to wastewater and reuse distribution systems. Performs general maintenance duties and tests backflow devices once licensed. Performs other duties as assigned. The position is subject to emergency callouts and requires overtime work, including nights, weekends, holidays, standby, and during inclement weather events such as hurricanes.
