Tradebe is looking for a Mechanical Technician based at our Fawley site.

The role involves ensuring that repair and maintenance requirements are identified and undertaken to maintain plant availability. All duties should be performed in accordance with documented work requirements, legislation, company policies, and standards related to safety, quality, and environment.

The role

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Advise management of safety issues
• Carry out risk assessments and prepare method statements for routine and defect maintenance tasks
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping
• Determine and execute repair and preventative maintenance on mechanical machinery
• Perform planned maintenance
• Assist other maintenance colleagues with routine tasks or major overhauls
• Provide mechanical maintenance support to maximize plant operations
• Support the Engineering Department as directed by the Maintenance Manager
• Recommend modifications or maintenance procedures to improve department performance
• Assist in planning and preparing for plant maintenance shutdowns

To succeed in this role, you should possess a combination of the following skills:

Essential Skills:

• Numeracy, literacy, and experience with computer software packages
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach
• Valid Driving License
• FLT Driver certification
• High standard of workmanship
• Flexible approach to work

Knowledge and Experience:

• Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance and installation
• Proven experience refurbishing pumps (centrifugal, piston, mono), conveyors, elevators, shredders, hydraulics, filter presses, bearings, gearboxes, fans, etc.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
• Knowledge of DCS, ESD, and PLC control systems

Qualifications:

NVQ Level III or HNC in Mechanical Maintenance, or a recognized technicians’ apprenticeship.
