Job description

Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 3.30pm AND Friday 7.30am - 3.00pm

Job Title: Mechanic at Tayside Contracts

As a Mechanic at Tayside Contracts, you will maintain a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant for both Tayside Contracts and our external customers.

Qualifications:

  • Served a recognised and relevant apprenticeship.
  • Hold a Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles at SCQF level 7 or equivalent.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to carry out major repairs and overhauls, maintenance, minor repairs on site, welding work, and operate power-driven tools.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations.
  • Willingness to participate in a standby rota and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Driving Licence:

  • Category C Driving Licence* or equivalent entitlement to drive in Great Britain is essential.
  • Category C+E is desirable.

*We accept applications from individuals without a Cat C license. If successful, we will arrange and pay for you to obtain Cat C entitlement. Repayment terms apply if you leave employment within 24 months of obtaining Cat C.

Additional Compensation:

  • Tool allowance: £15.75 per week
  • Standby Payment: £149.72 per week when on standby
