Job description

Working 37 hours on a rotational basis.

Shifts include:

  1. Early shift: 6.00am - 2.00pm
  2. Late shift: 11.30am - 8.00pm

The exact working pattern will be discussed at the interview.

As a Mechanic at Tayside Contracts, you will maintain a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant for both Tayside Contracts and external customers.

Requirements include:

  • Served a recognised and relevant apprenticeship.
  • Hold a Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles at SCQF level 7 or equivalent.
  • Ability to carry out major repairs, overhauls, maintenance, minor repairs, welding work, and operate power-driven tools.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations.
  • Willingness to participate in standby rota and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Category C Driving Licence or equivalent entitlement is essential; Category C+E is desirable.

*We accept applications from individuals without a Cat C license; however, if successful, we will arrange and fund the acquisition of Cat C entitlement. Repayment applies if employment ends within 24 months of obtaining the license.
