An opportunity has arisen for a Motor Vehicle Technician to work as part of the Fleet Maintenance Department for the North West Ambulance Service. This role operates on a two-shift pattern, covering seven days a week, with working hours from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Friday and 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

We have one vacancy in the Greater Manchester area, based at the Bury Workshop, Bury.

NWAS Fleet Operations is part of the NHS and provides vital support to a large ambulance fleet.

Main duties of the job

Our technicians are supported by a dedicated management team to maximize vehicle throughput and minimize workshop delays and supply chain frustrations.

With over 1150 vehicles, each day offers variety and the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with like-minded colleagues.

The working hours follow the current shift system, split across two teams over a seven-day week. Each team works an average of 37.5 hours over a two-week cycle, typically working 4 days one week and 3 days the next.

Person specification

Qualifications and Education

  • City and Guilds certificate in motor vehicle technology or NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 GCSEs or equivalent
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Driving Licence C1 + D1 (training in progress)
  • MOT Tester certification
